Yesterday was a test to see what I get to look forward to in September for the full Ironman. Today was 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run

I wanted to test pacing and eating.

The swim went as planned and the bike I held back to 160HR, when I normally put it at 175 on the Sprints and Olympic distance events. The run came and I was going to pace like I did at Grandma’s and hold an 8:00 min mile.. it worked for the 1st couple of miles and then I had to slow down and my stomach was not happy. I had to stop 5 times on the run and puke and I couldn’t eat anything on the run because my stomach was not happy with me. So..I’ve got some more experimenting to do with nutrition. The more long distance stuff I do the more I’m realizing the pain and suffering the Ironman is going to bring.

Transition 1 = 00:01:43.4
56 mile bike = 02:33:31.6 21.8 mph ave (60th overall – maybe I should have gone faster???)
Transition 2 = 00:01:03.6
13.1 mile run = 02:02:33.3 09:21 pace (199th overall – I totally fell apart on the run having to walk a few times and puking)
Total time = 05:19:46.3
